2007 is proving to be an exciting year for DMA West. Membership continues to grow as the Direct Marketing community in our region strengthens and becomes even more diverse and innovative.

The development of regional hubs has been particularly successful resulting in the official launch of DMA Wales. This means Wales now has its own representation and a strategy group focusing on key issues and initiatives. A full programme of events has also been well attended, including the newly introduced Annual Dinner which was held at the Roman Baths and Pump Room in Bath and replaced the traditional May Ball.

Alliances with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and the Institute of Direct Marketing (IDM) have resulted in a series of high-profile joint events. These include a Digital Marketing Conference in Bristol and a Marketing Innovations Forum in Cardiff. A series of Symposiums focusing on the key issues in our industry are also proving very popular.

The environment remains at the top of the DMA’s agenda – both at a national and regional level. DMA West is committed to the environmental initiatives currently being planned and implemented. These include the publication of Green Matters environmental guidelines in association with EnviroWise, the development of a Carbon Calculator and the first ever BSI Environmental Standard of its kind for the Direct Marketing industry.

The energy and commitment of the DMA West Council continues to play an essential role in our success. Comprising representatives from all sectors of the industry, working parties focus on important regional issues including education, communications and events. As a result, the West is gaining an enviable reputation as a dynamic and innovative region which we should all be proud of.
